Abstract: In this paper we continue the mathematical study initiated in C. Onica and R.L. Panetta, \emph{Forced two layer beta-plane quasigeostrophic flow. I. Long-time existence and uniqueness of weak solutions} (J. Differential Equations \textbf{226} (2006), number 1, 180--209) for a model of quasigeostrophic turbulence. We show that the unique weak solution found in C. Onica and R.L. Panetta, \emph{ibid.}, produces, via the inverse Fourier transform, a classical solution for the system. Moreover, we prove that this solution is analytic in space and positive time.
