<dc:description>Let $F:(\mathbb{C}^2,O)\to(\mathbb{C}^2,O)$ be a holomorphic germ tangent to the identity. Assume $F$ has a characteristic direction $[v]$. In [M. Hakim, \textit{Analytic transformations of $(\mathbb{C}^p,0)$ tangent to the identity}, Duke Math. J. \textbf{92} (1998), no. 2, 403--428], Hakim gives conditions to guarantee the existence of an attracting basin to the origin along $[v]$, in the case of $[v]$ a non-degenerate characteristic direction. In this paper, we give conditions to guarantee the existence of basins along $[v]$ in the case of $[v]$ a degenerate characteristic direction.</dc:description>
